Configuration - Categories
| Translate Categories | Enable to automatically clone and translate categories when saving. The plugin only works if the item being saved matches the source language. |
| Update Existing Translations | If 'Yes', existing translated items are overwritten with a new translation when you save the source item. If 'No', only new items are created. |
| Associated Tags PRO version only | If enabled, tags from the source category are replaced by their translated counterparts (via Tag Associations). If disabled, original tags are kept. |
| Translatable Fields | Select which fields the translation service processes. Unselected fields are copied 1-to-1 and not translated. The FREE version offers Title (aliases are translated too) and Description. PRO adds Images (Alt & Caption, images themselves aren't translated), Meta Description, Meta Keywords, Note and Custom Fields (only Text, Textarea and Editor fields are translated, other field types are copied 1-to-1). |
| Fields to Update PRO version only | Applies to existing translations only. 'All fields' rebuilds the translation from the source category, so every field you did not select under Translatable Fields is copied over in its original language. 'Only the selected fields' leaves those unselected fields exactly as they are on the existing translation, so you can add one field, for example the meta description, to a finished set of translations without their title and description being replaced by the source text at the same time. In that mode the tags and custom field values of the existing translation are left alone as well. Values such as the parent category, state, access and language keep following the source category in both modes. A new translation always receives a full copy, because there is nothing to preserve. |
| Default State for New Translations PRO version only | Set the publication state for newly created category translations. 'Default' copies the state from the original category. You can choose from: Default (copy from original), Published, Unpublished, Archived, Trashed. |
