Upgrade from J3 to J4

There is no automatic upgrade path from the Joomla 3 version of Price List to Joomla 4 and later.

This is because the Joomla 4 rewrite changed too much to migrate automatically: the old static extra fields and price field are now Joomla custom fields, categories use Joomla's native category structure instead of a custom table, and the component gained Joomla's multilingual system and frontend editing along the way. There's no reliable way to map the old data onto that new structure.

This only affects the move away from the legacy Joomla 3 version. Once you're on Joomla 4 or later, updating Price List and Joomla itself works the normal way, see "Install the component" for supported versions.

How to upgrade

  1. Uninstall the Price List 3.x component and its plugins.
  2. Upgrade your website to Joomla 4 (or later).
  3. Install the current Price List component.
  4. Recreate your categories and items, and set your options, as described in "Create your first category" and "Create your first item".
