If you want tasks to change color as their due date approaches or passes, download and install the Checklist - Due Date plugin like any other plugin. The plugin is activated automatically upon installation.

How does it work:

Once active, any task with a due date set gets an automatic status:

• On time: no extra styling.
• Warning: the task is within 30 days of its due date.
• Danger: the task is within 7 days of its due date, or the due date has already passed.

These thresholds currently use fixed defaults (30 and 7 days) and can't be changed from the Joomla backend yet.

To set a due date on a task, go to the task edit screen and fill in the Due Date field on the right-hand side.
