Install the plugin
Enabling this plugin logs you out of the site immediately and locks the administrator login behind your access key. Keep a backup on hand and make sure you know your key before you publish it.
Before installing, check that your site meets the requirements below. You can find your Joomla version under System > System Information.
General requirements
- Joomla! 5.x or 6.x
Preparations
- Create a full backup of the site. Akeeba Backup is a quick way to do this.
- Update to the latest version of Joomla.
Installation
- Download the installation file from our website, then go to System > Install > Extensions in your Joomla administrator.
- Select the file under Upload Package File. After a moment, Joomla confirms the extension is installed.
- The plugin publishes itself automatically. Go to System > Manage > Extensions, find the Access Key plugin under the System group, and confirm it's set to Published.
