--- title: "Custom Fields plugins" --- # Custom Fields plugins ## Install the plugins Before installation please check that the below system requirements are met. You can ask your webhoster if the server you are working on supports them. You can also find the information in the Joomla! backend under System > System information. ## General requirements - Joomla! 4.x or 5.x Support for Joomla! 3.10 ended August 2023. ## Preparations - Create a full backup of the website. You can use [Akeeba Backup](http://www.akeeba.com) to create a quick one - Upgrade to the latest version of Joomla! ## Installation (upload & install) The installation of our extensions is done with the Joomla! installer. Anyone that is already using Joomla! shouldn't have any problem, for those that are somewhat new in Joomla! we'll explain the steps required to make the installation of the extensions in your website. 1) After downloading the installation file from our website, go to your Joomla! administration and go to **System > Install > Extensions** ![install 01](https://www.joomill-extensions.com/images/documentation/general/install-01.jpg) 2) Then select the file in the tab **Upload Package File**, after a few moments you'll get a message saying the extension is installed. ![install 02](https://www.joomill-extensions.com/images/documentation/general/install-02.jpg) 3) The plugin will be published automaticly. Go to **Extensions** » **Extension Manager,**find the Custom Field plugin (Fields - ) and see if the plugin is set to **Published**to check this. Go to **Extensions --> Plugins**, search for Fields and publish it. There are a no fields to setup in the plugin itself. Go to the component you want to use custom fields *(in this example i use the Joomla articles)* Custom Field Group First create a **Field group** *(in this example i create a video field group)* ![first 01](https://www.joomill-extensions.com/images/documentation/customfields/first-01.jpg) The name you give to the Field group will be shown in the article as a tab and the description will be shown as information. ![first 02](https://www.joomill-extensions.com/images/documentation/customfields/first-02.jpg) ### Custom Field Now we can create our field Go to **Fields** and create new one Give the field a title and select the Custom Fields type (*after saving the field you can't change the type.*) You can enter a description, select required and enter a default value if you like. On the second tab (options) you can setup: **Placeholder:**Placeholder text which will appear inside the field as a hint to the user for the required input. **Render Class:**The class attributes of the field when the field is rendered. If multiple classes are needed, list them with spaces. **Edit Class:**The class attributes of the field in the edit form. If multiple classes are needed, list them with spaces. **Show Label:** Show or hide the label of the custom field **Show on:** Site or Administrator or Both **Automatic Display:** Joomla offers some content events which are triggered during the content creation process. This is the place to define how the custom fields should be integrated into content. Choose between Left or Center | | Autoplay | This parameter specifies whether the initial video will automatically start to play when the player loads. | | Show Controls | This parameter indicates whether the video player controls are displayed. | | Color | This parameter specifies the color that will be used in the player's video progress bar to highlight the amount of the video that the viewer has already seen. | | Modestbranding | This parameter lets you use a YouTube player that does not show a YouTube logo. Set the parameter value to YES to prevent the YouTube logo from displaying in the control bar.
