# DeepSeek API Key

 A DeepSeek API key lets you use DeepSeek's models for translations. Creating one takes an account, a small top-up of credit, and generating a key.

 
## Step 1: Create a DeepSeek account

 
- Go to the [DeepSeek Platform website](https://platform.deepseek.com/).
- Sign up, or log in if you already have an account.

 
## Step 2: Add credit

 DeepSeek's API is pay-as-you-go. Go to the billing section of the platform and top up your balance before generating a key, requests fail without available credit.

 
## Step 3: Create an API key

 
- In the platform dashboard, open the **API keys** section.
- Click **Create new API key**.
- Give the key a name and confirm.
- Copy the key and store it somewhere safe, DeepSeek only shows it once.

 
## Step 4: Add the key to Joomla

 
- Log in to your Joomla backend.
- Go to **System > Manage > Plugins** and open **System - Autolanguage**.
- Open the **Service & API** tab.
- Set Translation Service to **DeepSeek**.
- Paste your key into the **DeepSeek API Key** field and save.
- After saving, select the DeepSeek model you want to use for translations.
